Maruhon Sesame Oil is owned by Takemoto Oil & Fat Co. Ltd, which was founded in 1725 and is the oldest operating oil extraction company in Japan. Being one of Japan’s largest manufacturers of sesame oil, Maruhon produces over 70 tons of sesame oil per day. In an effort to produce the highest quality sesame oil, for 300 years Maruhon has been committed to using the traditional pressed extraction method despite it being very time consuming. In 2010, Maruhon received its first Monde Selection Gold Award.
Today, Maruhon’s sesame oil is not only widely used in Japanese homes, but is also highly regarded and loved by professional chefs domestically and abroad.
