This stunning long rectangular plate is a unique work of art.

Crafted by skilled artisans in Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture, it is characterized by a rustic fire-scorched appearance, elegant gold tones and white glassy glazes, achieved by repeatedly firing at high temperatures while the wood ash sticking to the pottery becomes a glass-like substance.

Its rough texture and irregular wave-like design adds to its wabi-sabi aesthetic, making it truly one of a kind.

Banko-yaki (Banko Ware) is a traditional Japanese ceramic technique originating from Mie Prefecture in the 18th century. The words “banko” means “eternity”. Banko ware is best known for its incredible heat resistance and durability.
