Category: Japanese Housewares
Souzyu-en was founded in 1953 in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, the famous city of Seto porcelain. Souzyu-en is a professional manufacturer and wholesaler of over 300 types of original design Japanese tableware, with tea bowls as their main focus. One of their flagship product is “thick-mouthed tea bowl” with a thick rim, which is a little heavier than normal tea bowls but very sturdy. Many of their products have painting done by hand, while some products use “screen painting”, a rare technique that is no longer used by other pottery manufacturers. Another specialty is “reinforced porcelain”, which combines the warmth and strength of pottery and is very durable. In recent years, Souzyu-en has expanded into making OEM commercial tableware for airlines (e.g. ANA) and restaurants as well as reinforced porcelain for medical and welfare facilities. For over 70 years, Souzyu-en has been striving to create tableware that adds colour to the dinner table and brings richness to make daily life more enjoyable. And Souzyu-en is committed to continuing with that mission in the years to come.
